Although there have been volumes written about the Mississippi and the Thames, their stagnant urban sections never romanced like you have, Cache la Poudre. I am utterly besotted by you, your rapids rushing down the mountain, the canyon you carved, your cool swimming holes in town, your clear water where my children stand hunting crawdads and frogs upon your shore. "Frankly my dear I don't want a dam" was the bumper sticker today that made me burst into tears. Clearly a harbinger that the three week cycle will be staining my bedsheets soon.
